soon as i updated my tab it initiated the download after locking onto my wifi.
i can cancel it but it would just re-start again next time i turn it on (i have to shut it down to recharge it-for some reason it refuses to charge with the power on since the OTA update-get a red 'X' on the battery if i attempt to charge it with power on, so i shut it down each night) I have never used voice search (i use a separate app for voice control since Google Now refuses to control things like bluetooth or wifi toggles by voice) and never told it to do anything offline. it seems to have initiated this download on its own, and it attempts it each time i boot the tablet up. under settings-voice search the only thing under 'offline speech data' is a sub-menu of installed languages, but none are installed. I'm using the stock TouchWiz ROM on my Tab 2, so that rules out the launcher. they change the UI all the time but never fix the real problems it has had since day one. nothing was wrong with the Android Market not sure why Google had to change it and never has fixed it. i now use it only to download a previously purchased app or to update one. last night it kept saying there was no connection when indeed there was, and it fails to download or forgets purchases on a regular schedule. never gave an error just sat there like it was going to download with the barber pole graph but nothing. like tonight, i could browse it fine, but it refused to initiate a download at all. Google's been having problems with the Play Store ever since it's been called the Play Store.
it's got auto update off, and Play Store is disabled (don't ask). i never told it to download any offline speech data and never use Voice Search at the moment. it slowly increments 1% at a time, so it's indeed downloading but i can temporarily stop it by clearing data from download manager. it's odd as for me it is actually downloading and taking up bandwidth. My Tab 2 has done this since i got the 4.2.2 OTA.
